ABOUT ME |
|---|
My name is Amit Tripuraneni and I was born in Gannavaram, a small town close to Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh (India) . I had an interesting and varied childhood which obviously shaped me to be who I am today. I completed my Masters in Business Administration in Marketing and Information Technology in 2000 from M.D.University, Rohtak (Haryana, INDIA) and went onto do a few stints with a couple of IT Companies before I realized that this wasn't what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So I left my job and explored options on where my passion really was - I realized that Media was always something I had been participating in throughout my lifetime but not with a focus. I decided that maybe I should focus on it and see if this is what I wanted to do for a living. I got my lucky break through Uday Prakash - a renowned hindi writer and producer/director - who gave me the opportunity to assist him with writing TV Series scripts, Documentary scripts. During that phase I also started handling production side of things and was liasioning with both Hindi as well as English book publishers in Delhi. I then got to work on a major documentary which Udayji was directing as the production manager and the first A.D. This really fired me up and I found my passion and I knew that even though this was a hard route to follow, I wanted to work in this field for the rest of my life. |

With this in mind - I knew I needed technical knowledge of the medium to be more effective and able to bring focus to my creative skills. I started searching for a film school which would fulfill my thirst for practical knowledge of the field. One thing lead to another and at the beginning of 2003 I ended up in Auckland, New Zealand pursuing a course at South Seas Film & TV School. It was a 1 year practical course in film & tv production - which fit my requirements perfectly and boy - the year couldn't get any shorter. The year at South Seas changed me personally and professionally. During the course of the year I made some awesome friends, who were as passionate about the medium as I was (if not more) and we kept doing extra projects on our own to accelerate our learning curve. I specialized in editing at school and by doing these extra projects I could aid my directing skills and production skills. At the end of my student year - I got my lucky break again from South Seas Film School, who offered me a job to assist with the post production department. During the course of my first year of assisting at South Seas - I came up with this crazy idea to launch into our first feature project, 'Memories of Tomorrow' [visit website by clicking HERE]. We finished the movie and achieved our targets with that movie and during the course formed some more great friendships. After the first movie , one thing lead to another and now we were in pre-production with our second feature, 'Nowhere to Love' but things got delayed and the script went into further development cycle - so I pre-poned my third project - a slasher/thriller titled 'FIVE' and finished principal photography in 2006. I am currently editing the movie with an aimed release for mid-2007. You can check out the movie website HERE |

To cut a long story really short - I wouldn't have been at the time and place I am in right now without the help and support of countless people - family, friends, mentors, colleagues , fellow film makers, strangers - who always thought there would be some sense to my craziness and believed in whatever I did. I am but eternally grateful for where I am today and I hope to keep making movies and tell different kinds of stories. Thank you for everything !!!!!! |
