This
song is unconventional by all means. Gina recorded the song in
a friend's garage and I first heard the song, about 10 seconds
of it while watching the end credits of the documentary which
Gina had directed at South Seas Film School, and i immediately
knew that I had to make it into a video.
I put the idea forward to Gerben, the school director -who generously
allowed us to use the school gear, just because he loved the song
as well. And further talking to Rob Verhoeven, the operations head
at South Seas, we were assured the use of the post- production facilties.
We
shot this song over 2 days over 2 locations: Location-1 was Lance's
parents house, which was beautiful in every sense of the word.
The entire Wordsworth family was forthcoming in their support
for us and made it the most fantastic shoot we have ever had.
Location-2 was Muruwai Beach, which we did not finalise till the
evening of finishing the 1st day's shoot. We were trying to get
access to Long Bay Beach but due to time constraints we had to
chuck it and followed Rachel's idea of using Muruwai Beach, which
has a strange sort of energy to it.
Shooting this song was the most fun experience we had over the whole
year because the team energy was fantastic and we just gave each
other lots of creative freedom due to which we got some shots better
than what we had actually planned for. It was during the beach shoot
that my cellphone fell out of my pocket and was swept away into
the sea.
The overall budget for this song was NZ$ 100 from my pocket while
everyone else pitched in by using their own cars and gas. |
