We made this short during our 1st
holiday break while at South Seas Film School. This was a true challenge
of getting things started - if I had not been able to make this short
film, I would never have done the amount of work I did later on in
the year. This was the project which got me and other team members
going. The biggest gratitude is to Lance, who thought that my crazy
idea could be done and we went about making the short. Made on a budget
of NZ$100, it was shot over 3 days for a duration of 3 hours on each
day.
We
edited part of the movie on Benji's laptop but had to beg Rob
to allow us to use the school computers as we started running
into space constraints and then technical problems on Benji's
laptop. And the editing was not smooth either, both Benji and
I had a major fight because Benji thought that the project as
bullshit and that I should not even be making it. He was going
through a rough patch emotionally and his cynicism had reached
great heights at the point in time. After a nice big argument,
things got resolved and Benji actually did some amazing stuff
on the edit.
Overall,
this was the starting point for me as a film maker.
